Karnataka State Pulses Abhivridhi Mandali Limited (KSPAML), based in Kalaburagi, is the Nodal Organization under the Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka responsible for the comprehensive development of the State’s pulses sector.
Formed under Government Order No. AHD 399 MS 99, dated 15.03.2002, KSPAML began its journey as Karnataka Togari Abhivridhi Mandali Ltd., focusing exclusively on Tur (Redgram/Arhar). Over the years, its vision expanded to encompass all major pulses grown across Kalyana Karnataka and Belagavi divisions, including horsegram, greengram, blackgram, avare, cowpea, and Bengalgram.
With this expansion, the organization was renamed to Karnataka State Pulses Abhivridhi Mandali Ltd. (KSPAML) in 2020. Today, it operates across 12 districts, including Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Bidar, Raichur, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Bagalkot, contributing to nearly 70% of Karnataka’s pulse production.

Bhima Pulses — The Brand of Authenticity and Trust
To connect Karnataka’s farmers directly with consumers, KSPAML launched the Bhima Pulses brand — a line of GI-certified, unpolished pulses that reflect purity, traceability, and the legacy of Karnataka’s agriculture.
Bhima Pulses was officially launched in August 2023 by the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, marking a milestone in the State’s commitment to farmer welfare and food authenticity.
KSPAML is developing a state-of-the-art milling and packaging facility in Kalaburagi, equipped with advanced technology for grading, traceability, and packaging.
This facility will ensure a consistent supply of GI-certified pulses across retail, wholesale, and export markets, while reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing quality control.
